Host Blues Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
The New York City Blues got a strong 7 innings from left-hander Jonathan Faulk today but failed to take Game 5 of the Pro Circuit Cup from the San Francisco Peanuts. Faulk held the Peanuts to no runs on 7 strong innings but San Francisco took the game by a score of 2-1 and now lead the best-of-7 series, 3-2.
San Francisco relied on the hitting of Willie Quinones to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Peanuts on top, 2-1. For the game, Quinones had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Bottom line," said New York City skipper Daniel Mays, "we didn't play well enough to win."
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday at Electric Kool-aid Baseball Park in San Francisco.
