Warriors Even With Blues After Home Win
|
The Washington Warriors and the New York City Blues will take the Cup Qualifier to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Warriors beat the Blues 2-1 at Warriors Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Washington right-hander John Hunter had a big role in the win. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 runs.
Bill Garcia dealt the Blues a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases empty and Washington leading 1-0, Garcia, who finished 3rd in the PBC in doubles with 26 last year, hit a 1-2 changeup for a solo home run.
Garcia attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Warriors Park in Washington.
