Cup Qualifier Game 1 Victory for Ortiz and Washington

Leave it to the veteran.
The Washington Warriors got a great start from 34-year-old left-hander Jose Ortiz, as Washington won the contest, 4-3, at Warriors Park. Ortiz threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Washington to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The Blues had little chance against Ortiz, who overpowered New York City hitters and struck out 13.
Blues manager Daniel Mays did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Pro Circuit Cup."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Warriors Park in Washington.
