The St. Louis Lions got a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Williams, who handcuffed the Detroit offense en route to a win, 3-2, at The Lions Hearth. The winning pitcher was Williams, now 6-7. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 10. Zack Doyle, credited with the save, is now 6 for 6 in save opportunities.
Had Byron Schroder not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Schroder hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Lions.
After the game, St. Louis manager Leo Cruz applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
At 32-34, the Lions find themselves in 4th place in the West Division.
