Fans who congregated at Shamrock Grounds were treated to extra-inning drama.

Despite a great performance by Boston designated hitter Jason Salyer, the Houston Mavericks defeated the Shamrocks by the score of 8-6 at Shamrock Grounds. Salyer went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Ze-dong Phan notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now sits at 6-3.

Houston used a clutch hit from Matt Bevan to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 8-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

In postgame comments, Bevan said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.

Houston raised its record to 30-25 with the win.
