Atlanta and Chicago duked it out and the Pilots came out victorious.

Getting offensive support from Dave Kershner, the Atlanta Pilots topped the Chicago Blackhawks, 9-7. Kershner was 4 for 5 with 4 doubles. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for the Pilots. Atlanta reliever Paul Rudolph picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Kosho Otani absorbed the loss.

Kershner had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 slider from Kosho Otani, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Pilots a 9-7 lead. It was the 9th double of the year for Kershner.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Kershner. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."

The Pilots, now 19-23, know that wins in July count the same as wins in September.
