Reliever of the Year Award Goes to Thornley Saturday, October 16th , 2004 Simon Thornley of the Atlanta Pilots said he never set out to win the Professional Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award this season, but he'll certainly take it. "2004 was a pretty good year for me, that much is obvious," he said. "This is icing on the cake." The 33-year-old out of New York fashioned a 2.90 ERA this season over 59 innings of work. He made 38 relief appearances and had 11 saves, 72 strikeouts, 22 walks and a record of no wins and 1 loss. Phil Knobbe of the Denver Cutthroats finished second in voting, while Kevin Tilley of the Washington Warriors finished third. |
