Thornton Day-to-Day with Injury
Friday, September 17th , 2004
The topic du jour around Chicago is whether Jonathan Thornton of the Blackhawks will suit up for today's contest. He was injured yesterday against the Texans while running the bases. The standout 26-year-old right fielder has a mild hamstring strain and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury.
"Jonathan will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible."
Thus far this year Thornton is hitting .264 with 6 home runs, 32 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
