Cutthroats Rally Past Peanuts to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
The Denver Cutthroats started the Cup Qualifier in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the San Francisco Peanuts in a walk-off. Denver won 2-1 behind a good day from starter Pat Winston. The left-hander threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which gave the Cutthroats a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Denver pinch hitter Joe Hanson, facing Dave Kaminski, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cutthroats the 2-1 win.

"I take a professional approach to my job," said Winston. "I've been around this game for a while."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cutter's Cove in Denver.
