Blues Lose to Blackhawks, 2-1

Chicago Blackhawks starter Jimmy Gubbels was in fine form against the New York City Blues at Trident Field, leading his team to a win, 2-1. Gubbels went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 2-0. Keith Feldman nailed down his 7th save.
Had Greg Molloy not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Molloy hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Blackhawks.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Molloy said.
Their 30-42 record puts the Blackhawks last in the East Division.
