Big Day for Eleam in 9-8 Knights Win
The Houston Mavericks and Los Angeles Knights provided some drama for the home crowd.

The 9-8 Los Angeles win over Houston was due largely to Cody Eleam. The Knights catcher was 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4. Johnny Scheller came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

The result might have been different, had it not been for Devin Buchanan, the Los Angeles right fielder. Buchanan had a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knights ahead, 9-8. For the game, Buchanan had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We maximized our offense today," said Los Angeles skipper James Walker. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The win puts Los Angeles at 1-1.
