Lions Score Late, Upend Shamrocks, 6-5
|
The Boston Shamrocks got a superb performance from pitcher Curtis Regan. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Louis. The Lions won the game, 6-5. Regan threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs. St. Louis reliever Zack Doyle picked up the win to move to 4-1. Jon Romano suffered the loss. The win puts St. Louis at 9-8.
Juan Velasquez went 1 for 3 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI for St. Louis. The 31-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jon Romano. It was his 5th walk of the season.
"I felt good up there," said Velasquez. "I saw the ball well."
