5-Hit Barrage by Jones Thursday, July 24th , 2003 The Los Angeles Knights stopped the New York City Blues by a score of 6-0 at Blues Field today, with the lion's share of the credit going to right fielder Jose Jones. The 24-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Jones said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Jones did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Blues. "Not much that I can say," offered New York City manager Paul Wood. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Jose Jones singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. So far this year Jones is hitting .367 with 1 home run.
