Manager Watson Axed by Colorado Springs 14ers

You can't fire the players when times get tough. Steve Watson learned that the hard way today as he was dismissed from his managerial position with the Colorado Springs 14ers.
Citing a need to "shake things up," a team official said it was time to move on.
"We respect what Steve has done for the club and we thank him for his time here, but we just think the future of the 14ers needs to be handled by someone else and needs to move in a different direction," said club general manager Joe Unknown in a prepared statement.
For his part, Watson remained upbeat about the decision.
"I know it's a business and sometimes you've just got to make a change," he said. "I want to thank Colorado Springs for the opportunity to manage here."
Team officials are expected to announce an interim manager in the next few days.
