Hits Galore: Tanton Drills 5 Hits Thursday, August 26th , 2027 Vacaville (R) Steelheads second baseman Mike Tanton had a day to remember at PBC Rookie Development Complex, ripping apart the Southern Cal (R) Empires and sparking the 12-2 Steelheads win. Tanton wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Tanton told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Mike Tanton singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, walked in a run in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and doubled in the 8th. Tanton is hitting .314 this year with 18 home runs and 85 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .425, 95 walks and scored 105 times. View Boxscore |
