Ireland on Fire: 5-for-6 for Edmonton (R) Thursday, July 29th , 2027 It was a sensational day at the plate for Edmonton (R) Drillers second baseman Butch Ireland, but a tough one for the team, as the Drillers dropped the contest, 10-9, to the Vancouver (R) Narwhals. Even with the loss, Ireland was pure misery for the Vancouver (R) pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting. "It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Ireland, who is the 29-year old second baseman . "Ireland really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Narwhals manager Dan Williams told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Butch Ireland flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Carlos Orozco in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. Thus far in 2027, Ireland is hitting .287 with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, 18 runs scored and has compiled a .416 OBP. View Boxscore |
