Rehab Fails, Career Over For Eagles Perillo Thursday, December 2nd , 2027 "It's one of the worst injuries of its kind I have ever encountered." Those were the opening words of the specialist that treated Newark (R) Eagles starting pitcher Clay Perillo for a herniated disc. Speaking at a press conference, the doctor went on to say, "In my professional opinion, it is highly doubtful that Clay will ever play baseball again. Miracles are always possible, but not in this case. The original injury was treatable, but several setbacks during the rehabilitation worsened the situation and did more damage." The distraught Perillo also spoke to reporters, saying, "I anticipated that the recovery would be slow, but I never expected this." Team officials said that the 38-year-old Perillo would take a few weeks to decide about his future. |
