Miami (R) Triumph Powered by Kern's 5 Hits Friday, September 10th , 2027 Miami (R) Sun Sox catcher Erik Kern had a day to remember at PBC Rookie Development Complex, ripping apart the Boston (R) Shamrocks and sparking the 12-9 Sun Sox win. Kern wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-7. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Kern told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Erik Kern singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, singled in the 11th, grounded out in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 14th.
