5-for-8 Day for Bechtel Sunday, July 25th , 2027 There was no storybook ending. Sam Bechtel of the Franklin Knights socked it to the visiting St. Petersburg Pelicans with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Knights fell, 13-10, at Ballpark of Franklin. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Bechtel complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 8 at-bats. Franklin manager Harry Decker sympathized with his right fielder, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Sam played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Sam Bechtel doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, walked in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, flied out in the 11th, singled in the 13th, flied out in the 15th and hit a two-run double in the 17th.
