Cruz Bangs 3 HR Against Arlington Monday, July 19th , 2027 Yuma Gnomes left fielder Tony Cruz put on a dazzling display of power at Yuma Grounds against the Arlington Stars. In the 9-2 Gnomes victory, Cruz penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Arlington manager Mike McClurkin said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 25-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Cruz said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Tony Cruz hit a two-run home run off Danny Cotter in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Matthew Herold in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Nick Fike in the 8th. Currently Cruz is batting .300 with 21 home runs and 54 RBIs. |
