Vargas Rips Hollywood for 5 Hits Wednesday, June 16th , 2027 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Julio Vargas said his club's tilt with the Hollywood Stars "felt almost like batting practice." The 23-year-old catcher went a remarkable 5-for-7 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the San Diego Aztecs, who were topped by the Stars, 9-6. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Aztecs manager Chris Sykes said. "Sometimes Julio is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-7 and lose than go 0-for-7 and lose." Julio Vargas singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Logan Jamieson in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, singled in the 12th and singled in the 14th.
