Top of the Charts: Poort Has Hit Record Monday, September 20th , 2027 Baseball has a new all-time single-season hit leader. In a game at Drillers Field Ben Poort broke the record set previously by Gianfrancesco Bracco. The crowd went wild when he banged out hit number 198. Asked by reporters, if it was tough to break the record, Poort replied, "Yeah, getting hits is tough, but there's no pressure build-up. I figured I would get this hit. This wasn't pressure. Pressure is the playoffs. Breaking this record was just fun... just another day at the ballpark." Ben Poort singled in the 1st. Poort has collected 198 hits for the Steelheads this year, 14 of them home runs. He has also netted 89 RBIs and scored 87 runs while batting .325. |
