EC Best Hitter Award to Atlanta's Eddie Cortez Friday, October 1st , 2027 Eddie Cortez is in the final year of his contract with Atlanta and today added a timely piece of hardware to his trophy case. Playing in 16 games in September the 27-year-old right fielder ripped Eastern Circuit pitchers for a .394 batting average, nabbing him the Batter of the Month award. He also rang up 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored. If Cortez keeps up this pace, he'll cost someone a lot of money. For the year, Cortez has hit .276 with 9 home runs, 54 RBIs and scored 68 runs. |
