Ricky Espinoza put on a hitting clinic as the San Diego Aztecs dumped the New Orleans Buccaneers, 7-2, at Bucco Ballpark.
The San Diego left fielder made New Orleans defenders earn their pay, lashing New Orleans pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Espinoza said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Ricky Espinoza singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Evan Weeks in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season, Espinoza has recorded a .248 batting average with 114 hits, 16 home runs, 61 RBIs, 63 runs scored and a .322 OBP.
