The Chicago Union satisfied the home crowd at Trident Field, treating them to a season-opening win, 3-2, over the Miami Sun Sox. Starting Pitcher Jason Zierer was the standout performer for Chicago. Jason McNeal nailed down his 1st save.

Had David Waters not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Waters hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Union.

Waters called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
