In the 10-7 New York City win over Boston, the impact of Cody Davenport was substantial. Davenport, who is tied for 10th in the EC in home runs with 12, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tetsuhiro Kawakami, who is tied for 2nd in the EC in saves with 15, nailed down the save. With the win, the Gothams have a record of 47-32.
Brock Metcalf had a big bases-clearing double for the Gothams in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York City trailing 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Joe Baker and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gothams ahead, 5-4.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jacob Sanders said.
