Cutthroats Nudge Past Roadrunners, 5-4

The Denver Cutthroats picked up a win, 5-4, over the San Diego Roadrunners at Tony Gywnn Park. Mark Benson led the charge. The St. Louis, Missouri native went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Denver. Chris Cunningham snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 2.1 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season. Earning his 5th save for Denver was Danny Moreno.
Benson had a timely hit for Denver in the top of the ninth. With Denver trailing 4-3, he turned a 0-2 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Denver.
Benson told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
The win puts Denver at 29-28 this season.
