Cutthroats Roll to 10-1 Win Over Aces
|
Chris Elliott left his imprint on the 10-1 Denver win against the Las Vegas Aces. Elliott, who finished 2nd in the WC in on-base percentage with .445 in 2023, went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2. Tucker Halverson, the winning pitcher, is now 3-1. He went 5.1 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 2. Juan Mejia nailed down the save.
Jayden Williams had a big grand slam home run for the Cutthroats in the bottom of the first inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a sinker from Dustin Eisenberg, who is tied for 8th in the WC in strikeouts with 61, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Cutthroats on top, 5-0.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Las Vegas manager Casey Lyman. "We got flat-out beat."
With the victory, the Cutthroats upped their record to 21-15.
