Union Win at Washington, 5-4
|
The Chicago Union picked up a win at Warriors Park, knocking off the Washington Warriors, 5-4. Starting pitcher Jon Naugle played a key role in the triumph. Jason McNeal, who led the EC in saves with 18 last year, picked up the win in relief. Justin Griffy took the loss for Washington. Chicago raised its record to 23-8 with the win.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jordan Blackwell? The two-time All-Star Blackwell stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Chicago up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We've got a great group of guys," Blackwell said, "and we're having fun right now."
