Zierer Sends Boston Bats to Deep Freeze
The Chicago Union shut out the Boston Shamrocks, 1-0, behind the strong pitching of Jason Zierer. Zierer surrendered only 1 hit in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 13.

Following the last out, Zierer appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Boston manager Kevin Read, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Zierer's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Shamrocks skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Union press conference, Zierer confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Zierer said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Chicago manager Ron Chiu added.

Checking out his stats for the year, Zierer has racked up 2 wins and 1 loss in 5 starts, posted a 3.28 ERA, and struck out 44 batters in 35.2 innings.
