The Union grabbed a win, 6-5, at Trident Field, overcoming a fine effort from Detroit pitcher Geoff Becker. Becker went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Chicago reliever Josh Kingsbury picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Luke Laurent took the loss. Jason McNeal got the save, the 3rd for him this season.

The Union beat the Motors in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single John McKinney produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Luke Laurent, McKinney gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he hit a 2-run single.

"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," McKinney told the Chicago Daily News.

The victory makes Chicago 6-3.
