Injury Sidelines Victor Ruiz For Year
Friday, August 21st , 2026
El Paso (R) reliever Victor Ruiz could miss the remainder of the season because of a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He exited yesterday's Vancouver (R) game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Ruiz would be out 9 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
This year, Ruiz has 8 relief appearances with no saves, 1-0 season record and a 3.38 ERA. He has hurled 16 innings, given up 19 hits, struck out 9 and walked 12. Opposing clubs have batted .297 against the El Paso (R) reliever.
