Mendez Slaps 5 Hits Friday, June 19th , 2026 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Alex Mendez -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at PBC Rookie Development Complex and paced the 14-1 Lions win over the New York City (R) Gothams. After his dynamite batting performance, the St. Louis (R) second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Alex Mendez singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Luis Sandoval in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
