Pete Smart Lost for Season Thursday, August 20th , 2026 The doctors have spoken and Pete Smart of the Houston Apollos didn't like what he heard. The 26-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Smart sustained his season-ending injury during the Arlington Stars game yesterday at Houston Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Houston medical staff reported Smart had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8 months. This year, Smart has 5 relief appearances with no saves, 1-1 season record and a 7.45 ERA. He has hurled 9.2 innings, given up 12 hits, struck out 11 and walked 4. Opposing clubs have batted .308 against the Houston reliever. |
