Keystones Capture Close Win

Both teams had their chances, but the Philadelphia Keystones eventually prevailed.
The Chicago Union got a superb performance from pitcher Jason Zierer. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Philadelphia. The Keystones won the game, 2-1. Zierer threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Justin Simpson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-2. Jason Zierer, who is a three-time All-Star, was tagged with the loss. Jayden Brown was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 16 save opportunities.
Vince Ricci delivered a big hit for Philadelphia. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Keystones ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
Ricci called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
The Keystones, at 36-37, inhabit 7th place in the Eastern Circuit.
