San Diego and Las Vegas duked it out and the Roadrunners came out victorious.

San Diego Roadrunners starter Andy Gillespie pitched his team past the Las Vegas Aces, 4-2. Ray Escamilla, who finished 4th in the WC in saves with 11 last year, nailed down the save.

San Diego used a well-timed hit by Jonathan Swift to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Roadrunners ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said San Diego manager Larry Link. "That's what Andy is right now."

The win makes San Diego 26-25.
