Fans of the El Paso Diablos who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a El Paso win over the visiting Vancouver Grizzlies, 9-3. Mark Brown started for the home team against Bernie Loyola. Felipe Gutierrez earned accolades for his performance. Ryan Matlock closed the game out for El Paso, earning his 1st save.

Gutierrez contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring triple. It was one at-bat among others that helped El Paso get the win.

"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Gutierrez told the El Paso Today.
