7-4 Gothams Win over Union Evens Season Record
|
New York City designated hitter Javier Blanco helped his team beat the Chicago Union, 7-4. Blanco, who finished 2nd in the WC in doubles with 27 in 2024, went 3 for 4 for the Gothams. Guillermo Flores, the first overall pick in the 2024 draft, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Tetsuhiro Kawakami earned save number 3.
Carlos Rice had a big 2-run double for the Gothams in the bottom of the third inning. With New York City leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Henrik Kuehnemund and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gothams ahead, 5-1.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Blanco.
New York City is now 10-10, Chicago 16-4.
