The inspired effort of Minnesota designated hitter Jason Youngsma was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-7, to the Denver Cutthroats. Youngsma went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The Loons, now 5-10 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.

Xavier Jones helped out the Denver cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 3 with a walk.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jones.
