Manhattan Dazed, Major Gets No-Hitter
Tuesday, July 29th , 2025
The Oil City Oilers relied on no-hit stuff from starter Jerry Major to defeat the Manhattan Liberty, 6-0, at Central Park.
"It's quite a thrill," Major told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Eastern Amateur Circuit records, he stopped Manhattan cold and hitless, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 10 of the 31 batters he faced.
Oil City manager Willie Aranda was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Major "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
This season, Major has compiled a 3-0 mark with a 1.27 ERA.
