Wednesday, October 29th , 2025
Danny Ruiz of the Winnipeg Buffaloes proved this season that age is just a number, as the 34-year-old relief stud turned in a season that was better than all his Western Semi-Pro Circuit peers.
"Winning the Reliever of the Year Award at age 34 is something I didn't really expect, but I'll take it," he said.
Ruiz's strong season saw him fashion a 2.42 ERA through 107.2 innings. He had 16 saves in 62 relief appearances and also put up 118 strikeouts and 52 walks. Opponents hit only .226 against the tough reliever.
He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 20. Chris Bratton of the Saskatoon Moose finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Eric Conerly of the Mexico City Aztecas finished third.
