It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Nathan Callins, it came around today.

The 30-year-old catcher scattered hits all over Ballpark of Franklin to pace the 22-8 Franklin Knights victory over the Long Beach Titans.

Long Beach skipper Seth Mansfield told reporters in the press room that "Callins deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Callins hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Nathan Callins singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Evan Weeks in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.

Callins on the season is hitting .366 with 3 home runs. His stats include 9 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
