Detroit (R) Downs Chicago (R) as Myers Tosses 5-0 Shutout Wednesday, August 21st , 2024 It wasn't easy but the Detroit (R) Motors made it look that way. Starter Marvin Myers shut out the Chicago (R) Union despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Detroit (R) Motors cruised to victory, 5-0. Myers allowed only 1 hit and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." To date this season, Myers sports a 9-3 mark with a 2.30 ERA in 16 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .210 batting average and has 135 strikeouts in 113.2 innings.
