Luis Arteaga Chosen WAC's #1 Player
Tuesday, September 24th , 2024
At the age of 26, Luis Arteaga of the Hollywood Stars could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2024 was good enough to win the right fielder the Western Amateur Circuit Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .302 batting average this year, as well as a .434 on-base percentage. He played 129 games and racked up 136 hits, 20 doubles, 2 triples, 28 home runs, 111 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 20. Tony Ibarra of the Yuma Gnomes finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Jason McCluskey of the San Diego Aztecs finished third with 1 first place vote.
