Pike Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Saturday, August 17th , 2024 With 2 hits at Boston Field, Bud Pike added another game to his hitting streak -- the Boston shortstop has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Battalion, as they fell, 12-5, to the Providence Grays. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Providence manager Seigo Yamamoto said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Bud Pike singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Bill Klein in the 9th. Pike currently has a .321 batting average with 128 hits, 13 homers, 65 RBIs, 63 runs scored and a .364 OBP. |
