Murri Strokes 5 Hits Thursday, July 18th , 2024 Bartolomeo Murri put on a hitting clinic as the Oil City Oilers dumped the Manhattan Liberty, 17-3, at The Oil Field. The Oil City first baseman made Manhattan defenders earn their pay, lashing Manhattan pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it." "Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Murri said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch." Bartolomeo Murri doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Dan Costello in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
