Gill Spins No-Hitter Against New Orleans Wednesday, July 24th , 2024 The Houston Mavericks were just hoping for a solid outing from David Gill. Instead, they got something special. The 21-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the New Orleans Voodoo, helping the Mavericks take the 5-0 win. "I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Mavericks. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special." Gill's repertoire has a sinker, slider, curveball, and changeup, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the New Orleans hitters off balance all game long. The Houston hurler fanned 12 and walked 3 in his history-making performance. "His sinker looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," New Orleans manager Jason Tudor joked after the game.
