The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place El Paso Diablos.

Starting pitcher Mark Brown fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the El Paso Diablos stymie the Denver Cutthroats, 4-1. The Cutthroats, now 40-38, have lost 4 in a row.

Denver could barely put a dent in Brown. The right-hander tossed 115 pitches over 8.2 innings for the Diablos, allowing only 5 hits.

"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Brown.
