The New Orleans Voodoo faced a tough opponent in Arizona pitcher John Leew, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Desert Crown Park by a final score of 4-3. Leew went 8 innings and allowed 4 runs. New Orleans pitcher Manny Mercado earned the win, hiking his record to 4-3. John Leew suffered the loss. Mike Tamblyn recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 7 for 8.
Bruce Bogan delivered a big hit for New Orleans. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Voodoo manager Jason Tudor. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Even with the win, the Voodoo have a dismal 21-54 record.
