Motors Score Late to Upend Union, 6-3
|
The Detroit Motors defeated the Chicago Union, 6-3, in part because of right fielder Jim Madore. Madore went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Motors. The winning pitcher was Alex Perez. His record now stands at 5-3. The left-hander went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Motors. The save went to Jaiden LeFlore, his 9th this season.
Madore had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 slider from Leonardo Basora, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Motors a 5-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Madore.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Madore told the Detroit Observer.
At 44-28, Detroit is in second place in the Eastern Circuit.
